The Micro-Sitimplant is a fully implantable titanium port
The area of silicone which covers the hollow of the reservoir is termed septum and this is a self-sealing membrane which will be pierced with Huber bevelled needles to introduce medications, to feed intravenously and to take blood samples. a radio-opaque silicone catheter with centimetre markings (80cm long) which is introduced either by surgical cut-down (cephalic or jugular veins) or by percutaneous technique into the subclavian or jugular veins and then usually positioned so that its distal tip is in the superior vena cava.
